So. You want to audition for... PIZZAZZ!
Interested in auditioning for PIZZAZZ!? Good for you! Pizzazz! is Portland's funnest and wildest talent show, and if selected, you're guaranteed to have a blast! Here's what you need to know:
PIZZAZZ! '09 will be held on Saturday, October 17th at 8 pm. We'll also have a dress rehearsal that morning (Saturday, October 17th) to give you an opportunity to get used to the stage and space.
The grand prize winner of PIZZAZZ! will receive $1,000, the second place will win $500, and third place will get $250. But everybody gets fun consolation prizes!
1) This year, judging will be weighed toward CREATIVITY. So while it's important to actually be good at what you do, it's just as important to do your talent in a creative manner. For example, don't just juggle plates--juggle axes and cats! (That's a bad example, but you get the gist.) Costumes are always encouraged, and the most successful acts of the past have contained lots of fun and energy!
2) YOUR ACT SHOULD NOT EXCEED THREE AND A HALF MINUTES. This is important. This show moves fast, and your scores will be higher if you don't drag things out. We can help you edit your song if necessary!
3) Due to onstage space considerations, please limit your talent squad to five people. And please, no elaborate setups! Everything you need should be able to be brought onstage and set up within 30 seconds. Electrified musical instruments are okay; we'll provide the plug-ins and CD player if you're a singer or dancer. NO FIRE OR GROSS FLUIDS THAT WILL MAKE THE STAGE SLIPPERY OR ICKY.
4) Former PIZZAZZ! contestants (except grand-prize winners) are welcome to compete one additional time. While you'll be auditioning for the PIZZAZZ! staff, the actual show judges will be local celebrities from the community, and their decision is final.
