I agree with you 100%. This drives me insane, almost as much as business who think spelling words incorrectly makes them cool or quirky. The continuous dumbing-down of this country is reaching epic levels. I called someone out on the use of apostrophes (why be dumb when you can be smart?) and got a ration of shit like you would NOT believe. And then he went on to discuss his higher education achievements, without irony.

Americans love stupid people. They revere them. They elect them president. The only thing Americans seem to love more than stupid people are hateful people and violent people. Our country is in a race to the bottom and we are winning.

*businesses (damn it why can't you edit a post?)

Yawn.

Great post CR, though it was a little diluted by that unfortunate typo (involving a plural noun, ouch!)

I also hate the fact that we can't edit here anymore, but that's all the more reason to proofread thoroughly before you post. I - like most people - have become a little bit more tolerant of simple typos probably resulting from autocorrect and/or voice typing, despite my best efforts to resist this ridiculous coming true of Idiocracy that we call modern life. Everybody knows that autocorrect is a demonic sentient AI program whose sole purpose is to ruin our lives and kill us.

Far worse than the occasional errant punctuation is the wholesale slaughter of spelling and grammar that is taking over our society like a disease. And of course errors in blog posts are far more forgivable than anything that goes to print without proper proofreading. That is simply inexcusable.

Your single typo notwithstanding, you made several eloquent points. Good job.
